Newcastle Obesity Surgery was established by Dr Tim Wright in 2002.
Since then, we have developed a team of highly experienced health professionals who are here to help people with severe obesity lose weight safely through a variety of surgical procedures. We have experience with all the common procedures: gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass. All of these are done laparoscopically (key hole surgery). We are also able to offer more complex revisional surgery such as conversion from gastric band to sleeve gastrectomy or conversion from older style stomach stapling to modern day gastric bypass.
We are familiar with a variety of other procedures that are currently in the development stages such as Robotic Surgery, Endoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (ESG), mini gastric bypass, the SADI procedure and the BPD. We are happy to guide you appropriately on these procedures.
The provision of a dedicated follow up program ensures the best possible outcomes for every patient. Once patients have lost their weight we also offer the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) for suitable candidates. Our results are recorded in the national Bariatric Surgery Registry.
